Where do you start when we've had such an insane year? I think I need to focus on the positives for now. Beginning with the 2019 holidays, the pies that I offered for sale to the golf club members were very popular so I kept busy even though little to no golf was being played. Beginning in March we offered curb-side pick up of grocery items that we ordered from U.S. Foods and GFS. This was a great alternative for older members who wanted to avoid grocery stores. We also offered entire meals like my chicken and noodles with sides and casseroles, etc. I had everything from coffee cake to chocolate chip cookies requested and when many members emerged when golf was allowed they blamed me for their "'Rona 15". I was fine with that, as I was able to keep working throughout the entire pandemic. With Chuck not being able to give lessons, we took a big hit to the income and it would have been worse if I couldn't have worked.
With the disaster that our garden was last year due to weather, I'm thrilled to report that I have kitchen cabinets bursting with canned tomatoes and greenbeans. We put in buckwheat for the first time to see how it goes. The flowers will be good for the bees, and the grain will be fed to thte hens. The honey crop is a bit low for this harvest because we haven't had enough rain to keep the flowers producing for the bees. We had a heavy rain last night and the ragweed and goldenrod are in bloom, so we hope that helps our little honey producers. Isaac and Kati have been selling honey at the Farmer's market this summer. Kati's honey oat bread has sold out each time.
Well more later...it's time to take care of the hens and make dinner.

Well darn- I had this blog set to notify me when here were posts or comments, but it must have stopped working. Maybe I need to migrate to a better platform?
